Ouzinkie first appeared on the 1880 U.S. Census as the unincorporated village of "Oozinkie."[7] All 45 of its residents were Creole (Mixed Russian and Alaskan Native).[8] In 1890, it reported as "Uzinkee" and included Yelovoi Village.
