Schools earning accreditation from the JRC-DMS have gone through a detailed evaluation of their instructors and educational materials. If the college is online it may also receive accreditation from the Distance Education and Training Council, which focuses on online or distance education. All accrediting organizations should be acknowledged by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation. Along with ensuring a premium education, accreditation will also assist in acquiring financial assistance and student loans, which are frequently not available for non-accredited schools. Accreditation may also be a pre-requisite for certification and licensing as required. And numerous Jal NM health facilities will only hire graduates of an accredited program for entry-level positions.

Are Internships Sponsored? Find out if the sonogram tech colleges you are reviewing have partnerships with Jal NM hospitals or clinics for internship programs. Internships are not only an excellent way to get hands on experience in a clinical environment, they are additionally a means to fulfill the practical training requirement for the majority of programs. Ask if the sonographer schools you are interviewing have job assistance programs and what their placement rates are. Smaller classes allow for more individual participation and personalized instruction. Ask the schools you are looking at what the average student to teacher ratio is for their classrooms. If practical you may want to sit in on one or more classes before making your ultimate determination. This will also give you an opportunity to speak with several of the instructors and students to get their perspectives regarding the sonogram technician program also.
