One of the most highly respected accrediting organizations is the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Accreditation is particularly crucial for licensing, certification and finding employment (more on accreditation later). So if you are disciplined enough to attend classes outside of the classroom in the convenience of your own home, then online classes may be the ideal option for you.

You may first want to choose whether you will attend classes online or travel to a school campus in the Silerton TN area. Obviously location will be critical if you choose the latter, and the cost of tuition no doubt will be an important qualifier as well. So in order to carry out your due diligence so that you can arrive at your final selection, below are some questions that you need ask each ultrasound tech school prior to making a decision.

Are the Ultrasound Technician Schools Accredited? A large number of sonogram tech colleges have obtained some form of accreditation, whether national or regional. Nevertheless, it’s still crucial to verify that the program and school are accredited. One of the most highly regarded accrediting organizations in the field of sonography is the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRC-DMS). Schools receiving accreditation from the JRC-DMS have undergone a rigorous assessment of their instructors and educational materials. If the college is online it may also earn accreditation from the Distance Education and Training Council, which targets online or distance education. All accrediting organizations should be acknowledged by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation. In addition to guaranteeing a superior education, accreditation will also assist in obtaining financial assistance and student loans, which are often not offered for non-accredited schools. Accreditation might also be a pre-requisite for certification and licensing as required. And many Silerton TN employers will only hire a graduate of an accredited program for entry-level positions.

Are Internships Sponsored? Find out if the ultrasound tech programs you are reviewing have associations with Silerton TN hospitals or clinics for internship programs. Not only are internships an excellent means to get hands on training in a clinical environment, they are also a means to satisfy the practical training requirement for the majority of programs. As a secondary benefit, they may assist graduates and students form professional relationships in the Silerton health care community and help with job placement.

Is Job Placement Help available? You will most likely want to secure employment quickly after graduating, but finding that initial job in a new profession can be difficult without support. Ask if the sonographer programs you are considering have job assistance programs and what their placement rates are. High and rapid placement rates are a good sign that the schools have large networks and great relationships with Tennessee healthcare employers. It also substantiates that their students are well regarded and sought after.

Where is the College Located? For a number of students, the college they choose will have to be within driving distance of their Silerton TN home. Individuals who have opted to attend classes online naturally will not have to concern themselves with the location of the campus. However, the availability of local internships will be of importance. Something to keep in mind is that if you choose to enroll in a program that is out of state or perhaps out of your local area, you might have to pay a higher tuition. State colleges often charge higher tuitions for out of state residents. And community colleges generally charge a higher tuition to those students that don’t reside within their districts.

What are the Class Sizes ? Unless you are the sort of person that likes to sit far in the rear of class or get lost in the crowd, you will likely prefer a smaller class size. Smaller classes enable more individual participation and one-on-one instruction. Ask the colleges you are reviewing what the average student to teacher ratio is for their classes. If practical you may prefer to monitor one or more classes before making your ultimate decision. This will also give you a chance to speak with several of the students and instructors to get their perspectives regarding the ultrasound tech program as well.

Can the School Accommodate your Schedule? And finally you need to verify that the ultrasound tech  school you ultimately pick can furnish the class schedule you need. This is particularly essential if you opt to continue working while attending school. If you need to schedule evening or weekend classes in the Silerton TN area, confirm that they are offered. If you can only enroll on a part-time basis, verify if that is an option and how many courses or credit hours you would have to enroll in. Also, ask what the procedure is for making up any classes that you might miss because of work, illness or family emergencies.

    Silerton, Tennessee

In 1869 Jesse, Spencer, Horace and Jame Siler, sons of Solomon Siler, and John, Josiah, James and Edward Siler, the sons of James Siler, purchased the land after moving from Siler City, North Carolina. There they raised their families, many of whom are still related to Silerton residents today. With the arrival of the Gulf, Mobile and Northern Railroad in 1917, Silerton became a railroad town. The depot would be named after the Siler family, many of whom maintained important businesses in the area. Eventually the town's name would be changed to "Silerton" to avoid confusion with the nearby town of Serles. The town would also grow into a venue for the timber trade.[5] In 1923 Silerton was incorporated as a municipality by a private act of the state legislature.[6]

Silerton is located in northeastern Hardeman County at 35°20′24″N 88°48′7″W / 35.34000°N 88.80194°W / 35.34000; -88.80194 (35.339926, -88.801872).[7] A small part of the town extends east into Chester County.

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 60 people, 28 households, and 15 families residing in the town. The population density was 149.4 people per square mile (57.9/km²). There were 34 housing units at an average density of 84.7 per square mile (32.8/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 100% White.
